There’s definitely a distinct correlation between Texas, the United States, and American-made trucks. Perhaps it’s the patriotism, or maybe it’s because Texans know a great truck with superior value when they see it. That’s why you should take the time to consider the 2016 GMC Canyon for your next truck purchase. Even though it’s not a full-size, it definitely belongs with the big boys. If you want versatility paired with beautiful aesthetics, check out the Canyon, which is sure to turn heads as you cruise Fort Worth.

Tailgating at a TCU Game

If you live in Forth Worth, you’re almost certainly a huge fan of college football. As Saturday game time approaches, imagine cruising around the stadium and setting up shop for an awesome TCU tailgate. It’s got room for four of your most diehard friends, plus a huge bed for a grill, cornhole set, or anything else you want to bring. Plus, the sleek exterior styling, complete with 18-inch alloy wheels, is sure to bring other fans to you so you can chat about the upcoming game.

Work Hard, Look Great

The GMC Canyon, despite its eye-catching exterior, is still a great choice for the working man. No matter what the task, the Canyon is up to the challenge. This includes a bed between 62 and 74 inches for hauling even the biggest of loads, as well as a total payload of 1,400 to 1,600 pounds. If you need to haul a trailer with your work supplies, don’t fear. With proper equipment, the Canyon pulls up to 7,000 pounds, making it on par with some full-size trucks.

The Beautiful Purr

Another reason you want to drive the Canyon is the exceptional purr of the engine, which sounds more like a finely tuned sports car than anything else. Under the hood, you’ll have three choices. The standard engine is still a fully capable 2.5 liter, four-cylinder that produces 200 horsepower and 191 pound-foot of torque. The next option is a 2.9 liter, turbo diesel four-cylinder that churns out 181 horsepower and a whopping 369 pound-feet of torque.

For the engine purist, the best option is the 3.6 liter, V-6 with 305 horsepower and up to 269 pound-foot of torque. With this engine, there isn’t much that the Canyon can’t handle.

Cruise Around Without Filling Up

Most trucks boast about getting 18 miles per gallon like it’s some sort of godsend. However, this number isn’t reflected by the Canyon, which takes you way farther on a single tank of gas. Starting with the fuel-efficient turbo diesel, you’ll get 31 miles per gallon highway and 22 miles per gallon in the city, which is a substantial number indeed.

While the other two engines have a slightly lower mpg, they will still keep you away from the pump more often than not. The 2.5 liter, four-cylinder provides up to 27 miles per gallon highway and 20 in the city, while the beastly V-6 goes 24 miles per gallon highway and 17 city. Regardless of your model of choice, it’ll get you to Dallas, San Antonio, and Austin without worry.

Cruising Fort Worth is fun to begin with, but when you add the Canyon to the equation, it suddenly gets a whole lot better. So, if you’re in the market for a new truck, there’s no reason not to give it a try.
